Meet Jimmy Liu: Supply Chain & Quality Expert

Turning manufacturing complexity into production confidence
When hardware companies face supplier uncertainty, yield problems, or the pressure of a new product launch, they need more than a consultant — they need someone who has stood on the factory floor, navigated real crises, and built systems that hold.
Jimmy Liu is that person.
With over 30 years spanning global corporations and early-stage startups, Jimmy brings deep, hands-on expertise in quality management, supplier development, and supply chain operations — the kind earned through experience, not textbooks.
Jimmy spent 15 years at Nokia and Microsoft, where he worked at the center of some of the most demanding mobile phone programs in the world. His responsibilities ranged from supplier quality and sourcing to manufacturing process optimization and New Product Introduction (NPI).
When the Japan earthquake and Thailand flooding struck, disrupting global supply chains overnight, Jimmy led supplier risk management and supply recovery efforts — restoring supply within three weeks. He has conducted over 20 supplier system audits and more than 100 process audits, and led improvement projects that increased keyboard yield by 18.1%. He also helped unify cosmetic quality standards across factories, R&D teams, and suppliers — reducing scrap costs and improving delivery stability across the board.
What He Does for Hardware Companies Today
Jimmy works with hardware companies at every stage — from early supplier selection to full-scale mass production — helping them build the systems and relationships that prevent costly surprises.
His areas of focus include:
- Supplier and quality management
- Manufacturing process optimization
- Supplier audits and risk control
- Aligning supplier capability with product requirements
His core belief: successful mass production depends on the right balance between design, manufacturing, quality, and supplier capability. When those four elements are aligned, production runs smoothly. When they're not, problems compound.
Outside the Factory
When he's not solving supply chain challenges, Jimmy can be found hiking, playing table tennis, or training at the gym. The same resilience and drive for continuous improvement that defines his professional approach shows up everywhere he goes.
